If you have warrants out for your arrest in the City of Dallas or in Dallas County be prepaired to go to jail. The City has a huge budget deficit to make up and they are putting constable and sheriff's jobs on the line to motivate the police force to take you to jail. As stated in a blog by Kevin Krause of the Dallas Morning News:
Dallas County Commissioner Mike Cantrell says he's seen numbers that indicate some constable precincts are doing a better job serving warrants than the Sheriff's Department warrant division.
Specifically, the constables appear to be generating more revenue for the county from warrants, he said. Each warrant comes with a fee that defendants have to pay, he said.
This came as a surprise to Cantrell, given that the sheriff has 58 warrant deputies and the constable offices together have about 30 deputies out serving warrants.
Cantrell and other commissioners said Sheriff Lupe Valdez has an opportunity next Tuesday to show up at an afternoon budget session and bring her warrant numbers. The data will tell the story, Cantrell said.
"What I'm looking for are the numbers to determine the efficiencies," he said.
The commissioners are hearing from different departments during afternoon budget sessions and the constables are up next Tuesday. They need to find $33 million to balance the budget by September.
Cantrell said if the numbers prove that certain constables are better at serving warrants, then the Commissioners Court could take staff from the sheriff and give it to the more efficient constables. Or have a warrant "strike force" made up of the best performing constables and sheriff's deputies, he said.
This has led to the advent of a Dallas warrant strikeforce ready to take you to jail to save their jobs. Don't let it get this far. Call us to help you today.
